And it meant that we had a snow-blanketed Sinterklaas and could warm up from the cold by eating Latkes as we celebrate the start of Chanukah with friends.
But it’s warmed back up into the low 40s, and so this morning it was back to grey sidewalks and rain.
It’s ok though! The Swarte Piete and Sinterklaas decorations may be gone,.. the snow may be melted (for now)… but we are still feeling pretty connected to the Holiday Spirit!!!!!
Wherever you walk in the city there are lights up, festive and cheerful in the cold.
Makes me think of my first holiday-season visit to San Francisco. We walked for HOURS despite the cold… marveled at the lights… and held hands listening to the saxophonist on Union Square wail away.
Maybe I should see if that guy is willing to trade Union Square for Utrecht Street :)
